Newcastle United are set to sign Dean Henderson after the Manchester United goalkeeper headed to Tyneside for talks over a move.
Martin Dubravka has been Newcastle’s first-choice goalkeeper for a few years now but the time may be right for an upgrade.
Karl Darlow is being linked with a move away whilst Mark Gillespie is little more than homegrown cover.
Add in that Freddie Woodman’s development appears to be stalling and Newcastle may now need a new first-choice stopper.
Henderson has been heavily linked with Newcastle for a number of months now and a deal actually looks close now.

The Manchester Evening News report that Henderson is close to joining Newcastle after talks became advanced.
It’s stated that Henderson travelled up to Newcastle for talks on Wednesday and a deal is now close.
The current structure of the deal would be a season-long loan but Newcastle could yet secure a permanent transfer.
The report adds that Newcastle did make a move for Henderson in January.
However a loan swap involving Dubravka fell apart when the Slovakian rejected a move to Old Trafford.
It now seems that Newcastle have returned to the negotiating table with a new move for Henderson.
The Mirror reported just days ago that Eddie Howe was personally backing a move for Henderson.

Henderson, 25, needs first-team action and it just isn’t going to come at United as things stand.
Henderson hasn’t played a single minute of Premier League action this season and has only played three games in total.
David De Gea has been in great form and that means Henderson has been sat kicking his heels for the majority of the season.
Newcastle will hope to get Henderson back to his Sheffield United form, when Blades midfielder Sander Berge hailed Henderson as ‘insane’ and ‘exceptional’.
With a move now advanced, it looks like Henderson will be Newcastle’s first signing of the summer.
