Fabinho has declared himself fit for Liverpool’s Champions League final with Real Madrid on May 28.

Liverpool have been sweating over the Brazilian’s fitness since going off injured in the 2-1 victory away to Aston Villa last week.

Fabinho sat out the Reds’ FA Cup final win over Chelsea this past weekend as a consequence.

Real have won Europe’s elite competition on 13 occasions – more than any other club – so it would be fair to say that the Spanish giants have an embedded pedigree when it comes to winning this tournament.

Jurgen Klopp’s side need a slice of luck when it comes to injuries and according to the former Monaco powerhouse himself, they’re going to get it.

That’s because Fabinho, speaking to AS in Spain, has revealed that he will be available for selection to face Real in nine days.

He said: “Yes, I will be there… to play. We are working and recovering to be ready for that final. I am very calm and very confident that I will be there, so we have to keep working and resting to be at the best physical level for May 28.”

If he is indeed available, this is a massive boost for Liverpool.

The South American, a £39 million signing in 2018 [BBC Sport], is such an enormous part of Klopp’s squad.

It isn’t a case of Liverpool being unable to win without him, because they achieved FA Cup glory without his presence in midfield this past Saturday.

But suffice to say that the Reds’ chances of winning goes way up if he’s available for selection.

He might be a little rusty, having not played since last week, but a 70 percent fit Fabinho is still an asset for the Anfield outfit and it’ll be fascinating to see if the German manager starts him.
