Alan Shearer and Ian Wright were in agreement that Leeds United will suffer relegation, with Everton and Burnley surviving.

Leeds fans will be tuning into both Burnley and Everton’s games on Thursday night because it could prove to be pivotal in the race to survive the drop.

If Everton beat Crystal Palace, then they are safe, if Burnley earn, at least a point at Aston Villa, then they will move above Leeds in the table and out of danger.

The issue for Leeds, in that regard, is that their goal difference is so bad that they need Villa to beat their relegation rivals.

Either way, with Leeds set to go to Brentford on the final day, there is ‘no way’, the likes of Wright and Shearer can see them winning against Thomas Frank’s side, as they told MatchDay Extra on PL Productions.

“I really worry for Leeds,” said Shearer. “I don’t see them getting anything at Brentford, such is the confidence at Brentford and that ground. The atmosphere they are going to generate.

“I think Burnley can get a point (from their final two matches). I think they can survive.”

Wright added: “Looking at Leeds and Everton, I think Burnley have the experience to duke out a point. I think Burnley will do it. I think Leeds go. I can’t seem beating Brentford. No way.

“That atmosphere is going to be too much (for Leeds against Brentford). I can’t see them losing that.”

LEEDS RELEGATION WOULD BE JUST SUM UP A FORGEABLE SEASON

From the goals conceded, the number of games lost, injuries and Marcelo Bielsa’s sacking.

It has been a season to forget for the Leeds fans and one that could get even worse on Sunday – Glenn Hoddle is another pundit ‘scared’ for their safety.

Those in Yorkshire will be relying on others to do them a favour, no more so than Aston Villa.

If Villa beat Burnley on Thursday night, then all Leeds need to do – well it doesn’t sound that simple – is beat Brentford on the final day and they are safe.

In other words, it’s in their hands and it’s easier to concentrate on your job and your job only, in that regard.
