Bruno Guimaraes met with Lucas Paqueta on Tuesday amid repeated rumours that the Brazilian duo will reunite at Newcastle United next season.

Newcastle enjoyed quite the night on Monday.

Their final home game of the season was always going to have a party atmosphere after an eventful season.

From a dismal start under Steve Bruce to major growth under Eddie Howe and with a huge takeover thrown in, it’s been a season of hope for Newcastle.

Beating Arsenal 2-0 at St James’ Park was the perfect way to end the season and fans gave the Newcastle players a great send-off for the summer.

There is still an away game to come this weekend but this home win meant everything to Newcastle fans.

Midfielder Bruno Guimaraes scored the important second goal against Arsenal, firing home to make it 2-0.

The Brazilian has quickly become a fan favourite after his January move from Lyon – and he could be joined by a close friend.

The Chronicle report that Newcastle want to sign £58million Lyon playmaker Lucas Paqueta.

Paqueta is a close friend of Guimaraes from their time at Lyon and seeing them join forces at Newcastle would be hugely exciting.

Guimaraes has even publicly called for Newcastle to sign Paqueta, calling a potential deal ‘really cool’.

Whether Newcastle go for that remains to be seen, but Paqueta has set tongues wagging.

Paqueta travelled to Newcastle on Tuesday as he joined in the celebrations for the birthday of Guimaraes’ girlfriend Ana Lidia Martins.

Guimaraes and Paqueta took a photo together, with the Newcastle star simply captioning it with ‘I love you brother’.

Both players will be well aware of the Newcastle rumours and seeing them so close off the pitch has to give the Magpies hope of a deal this summer.
