Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard wants to sign his former Liverpool teammate Luis Suarez in the summer transfer window, according to 90min.

Liverpool legend Gerrard played with Suarez at Anfield, and the former Rangers manager reportedly wants the striker at Villa this summer.

90min have reported that Villa are ready to hold talks with Suarez and his agents.

The 35-year-old will become a free agent this summer after leaving Atletico Madrid.

Would Luis Suarez make Aston Villa better?

In our opinion, Aston Villa would be a better team with Luis Suarez in it, but expectations should be tempered.

Suarez is 35 now, and is not the same player he was when Barcelona paid £75 million to sign him from Liverpool back in 2014 (BBC Sport).

The Uruguay international striker is still playing well, and if managed the way Gerrard has handed Ashley Young, he could be an asset.

Suarez has made 20 starts and 14 substitute appearances La Liga this season.

The Atletico striker has scored 11 goals and given two assists in those games.

Suarez scored 21 goals and provided three assists in 30 La Liga starts for Atletico last season.

The Uruguayan is a serial winner, who won the La Liga four times and the Champions League once with Barcelona and the league once with Atletico.
