Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Christian Eriksen’s future amid ongoing links to Tottenham.
The Dane has been a revelation for Brentford since he returned to the Premier League. Despite suffering a cardiac arrest last summer, Eriksen has returned as though he’d never been away.
The midfielder has been running the show for Brentford in almost every game the Bees have played in recent weeks, and he’s even managed to star against some of the best clubs in the division – most notably putting in a Man of the Match display against Chelsea in April.
Eriksen’s contract is up this summer, and as you may imagine, there are a number of clubs looking into the idea of signing him.
According to Romano, Spurs are keen, but they will face some stiff competition from Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City as the journalist claims that the Northern Irishman is in love with the idea of signing Eriksen.
What’s been said?
Romano spoke about Eriksen’s future.
“Let me clarify one thing on Eriksen’s side, he is not desperate to play Champions League football. Of course, he would love to play in the Champions League, but from what I am told, he’s not desperate for that. His priority is to discuss with Brentford, to understand their plans and to respect them. And then he will discuss with other clubs, he has many possibilities on the market. Tottenham are interested in signing him, Leicester, Brendan Rodgers is in love with Christian Eriksen, but at the moment, nothing has been decided,” Romano said.

Great fit
Brendan Rodgers is desperate for Eriksen to sign for Leicester, and, to be honest, we can understand why.
The Foxes look set to lose Youri Tielemans this summer, and Eriksen would be an unbelievable replacement for the Belgian.
They’re both two-footed playmakers who can create something out of nothing and score from range, so a move to the King Power Stadium would be logical for Eriksen once Tielemans goes.
However, of course, a return to Spurs would also be incredibly tempting, and even though Eriksen isn’t desperate to play in the Champions League, we’re sure he’d be very keen to get back playing at that level if the opportunity presented itself.
