Jamie Carragher has raved about Tottenham Hotspur central defender Cristian Romero on Sky Sports, and has outlined what he likes about him.
The former Liverpool defender has named Tottenham star Romero as his best new player in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old Argentina international central defender moved to Tottenham on loan from Italian club Atalanta in the summer of 2021.
Jamie Carragher on Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero
Carragher told Sky Sports: “I really like him. Maybe with Romero being my position, I remember watching him at Man City earlier in the season and thinking there is something special about him.
“Every time I watch him play, he takes the ball, he is aggressive. He reminds me of Ricardo Carvalho at Chelsea.
“He isn’t the biggest of defenders, but he is clever, he’s switched on, he is cool on the ball. I think Tottenham have a real player there.”

Important player for Spurs
In our opinion, Crstian Romero is an important player for Tottenham and has played a massive role for the North London club this season.
Spurs are on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League, and the 24-year-old’s role in that quest cannot be undermined.
Romero is perfect for Conte’s three-at-the-back system, and although he does make the occasional mistake, his potential and quality is there for all to see.
The Tottenham no. 4 has made 21 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League this season.
The Argentine has scored one goal in those games.
If Tottenham finish in the Premier League top four this season, then, in our view, Romero will have played a big part.
