Gary Neville has claimed that Real Madrid trio Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos get into Liverpool’s team ahead of the Champions League final, as he stated on his Instagram.

The Old Trafford legend added that Real Madrid’s midfield is ‘better than’ Liverpool’s, as he dismissed the age of those players.

All three are 30 or over, with Modric being the oldest at 36, in comparison, Liverpool’s best midfield – Fabinho, Thiago and Jordan Henderson – it’s the Brazilian who is the youngest at 28, the other two are 31.

When they lock horns in Paris, it will become evident as to who is the top dog as the Champions League will be on the line.

This is how the conversation unfolded when Jamie Carragher asked Neville ‘how many Real Madrid players get into Liverpool’s team?’

“What Real Madrid players would get into the Liverpool team, do you think?” Carragher asked Neville.

Neville responded: “I think the midfield three. Fabinho you would have to consider. But you have to have Modric, Kroos and Casemiro.

“The midfield of Madrid is better than Liverpool’s. It is.”

Carragher interrupted: “In terms of quality on the ball. That’s the same midfield that played against Liverpool four years ago.”

Neville added: “I know, but have you seen them? They are still playing (well), aren’t they?!”

When Carragher says Modric has been ‘unbelievable’ this season, Neville then added: “You watch Modric. You watch Kroos. You watch Casemiro. They eat big games them three.”

MIDFIELD BATTLE COULD WIN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL

There are going to be some serious battles across the pitch in the Champions League final, no more than in the middle of the park.

First and foremost, Liverpool will be hoping they are able to play their strongest XI.

Fabinho has missed his side’s last two matches, including their FA Cup final win, through injury.

But is that Jurgen Klopp just being extra careful or is there genuine worry that he might not make the final?

Either way, Fabinho starting or not could prove to be the difference in Liverpool becoming champions of Europe for a seventh time.
