Lineker’s reaction to Arsenal defeat, as Tottenham get top-four advantage

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal losing to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United and potentially missing out on a spot in the Premier League top four to Antonio Conte’s Spurs.

Arsenal have suffered a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle away from home at St. James’ Park in the Premier League this evening.

An own goal from Ben White saw Newcastle take the lead in the 55th minutes, and Bruno Guimaraes doubled the advantage for the Magpies in the 85th minute.

Arsenal are now fifth in the Premier League table with 66 points from 37 games, two points behind bitter North London rivals Tottenham.

Tottenham have a goal difference of +24, while Arsenal’s is +9.

So effectively Tottenham need just a draw from their final game of the season to finish in the Premier League top four and qualify for next season Champions League.

We think that Tottenham will get the job done and return to the Champions League next season.

Former Tottenham striker Lineker was following, and he was pleased to see Arsenal lose.

The MOTD presenter has described Arsenal’s collapse against Newcastle as “Spursy”.
