Owen Hargreaves has stated that Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane, is ‘one of the best ever’ penalty takers.
On Sunday, Spurs recorded a narrow but valuable 1-0 win over Burnley to move fourth in the Premier League table – and boost their Champions League hopes.
Even though Antonio Conte’s side were dominant from open play, it was Kane’s penalty that was the difference on the day.
Burnley striker Ashley Barnes was punished for handball inside the penalty just before half-time, with the on-field referee, Kevin Friend, having to go to his monitor.
Just like Kane did against Arsenal in the north London derby, he dispatched his spot-kick and Hargreaves told Premier League Productions (15/05/22 at 1:05 pm) that Kane has ‘mastered’ that art.
“One of the best ever penalty takers,” said Hargreaves. “He has a clear picture. Makes his mind up.
“Normally, he always goes bottom left, doesn’t he? Arsenal, the other day, he went the other way.
“But he has just mastered those penalties.”
TOTTENHAM PUT PRESSURE ON ARSENAL IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RACE
Tottenham are now sitting fourth in the Premier League table and Arsenal have a chance to respond against Newcastle on Monday night.
As things stand, it’s in the hands of Mikel Arteta and his players.
But, if they slip up, then the Gunners wouldn’t want to hand over the keys to Spurs, especially given who they will play on the final day.
It’s already-relegated Norwich City that awaits Conte and his players, so that should be a banker.
