Former Anfield striker Michael Owen has raved about reported Liverpool target and West Ham United attacker Jarrod Bowen on Premier League Productions while watching him in action against Manchester City at London Stadium at the weekend.

Bowen, who has been linked with a move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the summer transfer window, scored twice against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

Both of the Englishman’s goals came in the first half.

90min reported last month that Liverpool are long-term admires of Bowen and want to sign him in the summer transfer window.

Owen said about Bowen on Premier League Productions: “Jarrod Bowen has been so good this season – he’s really taken a big step forward.

“Now he’s being talked about in terms of his national side, and we’ve seen the reason why today.”

Could a transfer happen?

In our opinion, it is unlikely that Liverpool will sign Jarrod Bowen from West Ham United this summer.

Liverpool have five quality attacking players in Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.

And let’s not forget that Harvey Elliott is another option for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Would the Reds really spend a lot of money to bring in a 25-year-old attacking player this summer, especially one who is not world-class and not among the ‘elite’?

We do not think so.

Now, of course, there is every likelihood that Liverpool will continue to monitor the £80,000-a-week (SalarySport) West Ham star next season, and we think that they should do so.

Bowen has scored 12 goals and given 10 assists in Premier League this season.
