Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa could make a bid for Liverpool target and Lille forward Jonathan David, according to But!.

The report in the French news outlet has claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, Villa, West Ham United, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain all have expressed interest in securing the services of the Canada international forward in the summer transfer window.

Villa and West Ham are ‘particularly likely’ to make a big bid, according to the report.

Signing Liverpool target Jonathan David would be coup for Aston Villa

In our opinion, if Aston Villa are able to sign Jonathan David ahead of Liverpool, then it would be a big coup for the Villans.

Villa are an established club in the Premier League, but they are unlikely to even challenge for the top four anytime soon.

As for Liverpool, the Reds have won the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup this season, and could clinch the Premier League and the Champions League as well.

Liverpool are a global brand and regularly win major trophies, and that is surely going to appeal to David, who is on £35,000-a-week salary (SalarySport) at the moment.

The 22-year-old has scored 15 goals in Ligue 1 for Lille this season.
