Chelsea forward Timo Werner has raved about Liverpool central defender Ibrahima Konate on the club’s official website ahead of the FA Cup final against Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea and Klopp’s Liverpool will face each other in the final of the FA Cup today.

Chelsea manager Tuchel could include Germany international forward in the starting lineup, while there is a very good chance that 22-year-old French centre-back Konate will start alongside Virgil van Dijk for Liverpool.

Werner – who recently said that he turned down a move to Liverpool – played with Konate at RB Leipzig, and he has raved about his former teammate, adding that he wishes that Chelsea had signed the youngster.

Chelsea’s Timo Werner on Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate

The forward told Chelsea’s official website about Konate: “‘I like him a lot. He’s very calm. I played three years with him and he is a brilliant defender.

“It was unlucky that Chelsea did not buy him one or two years ago, but I think Liverpool did a very good deal with him.

“I remember one story from Leipzig when he said when he was injured that normally he has only problems with Timo in training, and now he has problems with every player in training!

“That was because he was not on his level because of the injury. He was saying this to the manager and we were laughing because he is very good in duels.

“It is good for him that he’s back in shape but bad for us because he helps Liverpool a lot. In this final we have to beat him as well!”

FA Cup final

In our opinion, today’s FA Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool at Wembley Stadium in London could be a classic.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea have strong teams and like to play good attacking football.

We think that there will be a few goals in the final today.

Liverpool will probably head into the FA Cup final as favourites, but Chelsea have what it takes to win it.
