Minecraft 1.19 has lost more features from its list ahead of the official Wilds update release date.

And while developers Mojang have only had to cut two things from its plans, fans are still a little peeved at missing out.

And unlike some of the things that were moved from 2021’s expansion, Caves & Cliffs, there isn’t a guarantee that these items will feature in another update later in the year.

Here’s what we know so far about what the Minecraft 1.19 download will not include when it arrives later this year.

Mojang Explains Content Changes For Minecraft 1.19

Minecraft is a hugely popular game that continues to generate a huge following both in-game and on platforms like Twitch. Much of this is down to the thriving modding community, and also those who use the game create amazing and unique content. But many gamers continue to play and enjoy the vanilla experience and rely on new content to keep things exciting and fresh.

And with Mojang announcing that The Wilds update will be missing a few of the promised items, fans have been left a little disappointed. From what has been shared so far by the team, Minecraft 1.19 will now ship in 2022 without birch forest and fireflies. In a new message shared by Mojang, they explained why Fireflies and Birch Wood Forests would not be making it into game, revealing in a new video:

“Fireflies was originally part of the plan for The Wilds update. We wanted them to be a food source for the new frogs. But then we got great feedback from you guys in our lovely community and you taught us that a lot of species of fireflies and firebugs that are out there are poisonous to toads and frogs.

“And of course, we didn’t want to add that into our game. So we provided the Frogs with a safer food source, the tiny slimes. And so sadly, Fireflies are no longer part of the plans for the Wilds update.”

Mojang says that Fireflies are part of the ideas library but that doesn’t mean they will be entering the game in the near future. They also confirmed that while they did show concepts for Birch Wood forest improvements during Minecraft Live, that didn’t mean it was guaranteed to feature in the final product.
