Matthew Upson has told BBC Sport that Tottenham Hotspur duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min tore Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to pieces at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the North London derby.

The former Arsenal central defender was impressed by Tottenham forwards Kane and Son, as Antonio Conte’s Spurs got the better of Arsenal in the North London derby on Thursday evening.

England international striker Kane scored twice in the first half, and South Korea international forward Son found the back of the net in the opening minutes of the second period.

Upson told BBC Sport after the third goal: “Wow. This pair are pulling Arsenal to pieces at the moment – Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. What a start to this second half and look at Mikel Arteta’s face.

“Son produces a really improvised finish. He sees the space in the far corner. It is a quality finish, it really is.”

Big win

In our opinion, the win for Tottenham against Arsenal in the North London derby is massive for Spurs.

Spurs could now leapfrog Arsenal into the top four.

Tottenham are just a point behind Arsenal in fifth.

Now, of course, Arsenal still have their destiny in their own hands.

All the Gunners need to do to qualify for the Champions League next season is win their final two games.

However, the win against Arsenal will have certainly enhanced the confidence of the Tottenham team.
