Darren Bent has stated Tottenham fans ‘wouldn’t be happy’ if a swap deal took place involving Harry Kane and Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku, as he told talkSPORT.
The former striker added that Chelsea would need to pay at least ‘£30 million on top’ of Lukaku in order to land the Tottenham hitman.
On a good day, both Spurs and Chelsea wouldn’t do transfer business, so to assume a deal such as this would take place is something not even Football Manager would allow.
But saying that, there are rumours emerging that Antonio Conte, who worked with Lukaku, is keen on signing the struggling Chelsea player, as reported by Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.
Either way, when discussing Chelsea possibly signing Kane, and Lukaku heading the other way, this is what Bent had to say.
“Chelsea fans would love to have Kane,” said Bent. “Lukaku had his best spell under Conte.
“But I don’t think Spurs fans would be happy with that.
“£30 million (on top of Kane regarding possible swap). You aren’t getting Lukaku, then asking for £70 million, that’s not happening.
“He (Lukaku) is not worth £100 million now. Probably £70 million. Kane is worth £100-120 million.”

Lukaku joining Tottenham from Chelsea would be a shock
It was suggested last month by Italian outlet, La Republicca that Tottenham was a very realistic option for Lukaku when the summer transfer window re-opens.
Now, it’s understandable that Conte is being linked to sign a former player and one he thrived with at Inter Milan as they won the Serie A title last season.
But Lukaku ending up in north London would be a big shock, even if Kane stays put.
Either way, there’s no reason why Spurs would want to add Lukaku when they have Kane on their books, unless there is a fear of him possibly leaving in the summer.
