Celtic were finally confirmed as Scottish Premiership champions on Wednesday despite failing to beat Dundee United – Stan Collymore and Alan Thompson have taken to Twitter to react with sheer delight.

Coming into the game, both sides had two league games to play and Rangers had to secure victory – and hope that Celtic suffered defeat. The Gers won 4-1, but Celtic did enough to secure a point away from home.

Georgios Giakoumakis got his goal after the interval and while Dylan Levitt was on target for United – it was enough for Celtic to confirm themselves as Champions. They will get the trophy on Saturday at Parkhead.

It is an impressive feat, given the state of the playing staff and club when Ange Postecoglou took over last summer. But the Aussie gaffer has turned things around. Collymore and Thompson were delighted on Twitter.

.Celtic and Rangers continue to be firm favourites to win the title. But it is not to be underestimated the job Postecoglou has done. His work in the transfer market, his work in establishing an identity, and his overall aura.

Celtic have got rid of the dead wood, and brought in some excellent signings. A team almost unrecognisable from last season. One that the manager has instantly got to gel. To adapt to his system and way of football.

It is a well-deserved title, and of course, means instant qualification to the Champions League group stages – huge lucrative bonus. Chris Sutton was also on Twitter to congratulate his old side, teasing Rangers.
