90Min claim West Ham were also in the race to sign £6million-rated Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay – but it appears Liverpool are set to win the race for the Scottish talent, with Leeds United also missing out.

Ramsay, 18, has been in stunning form for Aberdeen this season – having broken into the senior side last term and played six times. This time around, he has already clocked up 33 appearances, having a hand in 10 goals.

His form has attracted plenty of interest from down south and 90Min, among other outlets, report that Liverpool are winning the race to sign Ramsay. A fee of £6million could be about to change hands for the defender.

The report also states that Leeds, West Ham, Southampton and Crystal Palace had also been considering a move for Ramsay this summer – but that Liverpool are set to win the race. He has a deal until the summer of 2024.

West Ham want Ramsay: Liverpool best move for Scottish ace?

Ramsay has enjoyed first-team exposure at Aberdeen and that freedom and constant game time has got the best out of him. It is that form that has convinced Liverpool to sign him – but he will not play regularly there.

There is no chance Ramsay, or any other right-back in world football, can displace Trent Alexander-Arnold. He might get 10-15 appearances next season. West Ham have options at right-back, too.

Vladimir Coufal, Ben Johnson and Ryan Fredericks. Southampton have Tino Livramento and Kyle Walker-Peters. Palace could do with one, but Leeds would have been ideal with Luke Ayling now in his thirties.
