Tottenham Hotspur not only missed out on Liverpool star Luis Diaz in January, but also his then-Porto teammate Zaidu Sanusi.
As far as transfer misses go, Tottenham will be absolutely kicking themselves having failed to sign Diaz in January.
Tottenham made their move for the Colombian but their bid was rejected, and by the time the second offer went in, Liverpool had swooped in to hijack the deal.
Diaz has become a sensation at Liverpool and has been a driving force in their quest for a quadruple.
What’s interesting though is that Tottenham actually wanted Diaz as part of a double deal.
Duncan Castles reported late in January that Tottenham targeted left back Zaidu Sanusi for a move to North London alongside Diaz.
However, Tottenham didn’t like the terms that Porto were putting forward for Sanusi and backed away completely.
We now know that Diaz is the newest Premier League star but what about Sanusi?
The Nigerian left back, 24, has been featuring regularly under Sergio Conceicao and has now experienced a truly memorable moment.
Porto headed away to rivals Benfica on Saturday, knowing that a win would wrap up the title for them.

It looked like the game would end in a 0-0 draw only for Porto to launch a last-gasp counter attack.
Almost 94 minutes were on the clock when winger Pepe broke down the right side before crossing for Sanusi to smash the ball into the roof of the net.
Sanusi’s goal sparked wild scenes as Porto clinched yet another Portuguese league title. This one will have been even more special having been won on Benfica’s home patch.
Sanusi would likely jump at a Premier League move now, but had he joined Tottenham in January, this moment wouldn’t have happened.
There are many sliding doors moments in football and this is one of them, with Sanusi no doubt delighted that he got to score a title-winning goal after missing out on a big transfer.
