Mikel Arteta has spoken about Thursday’s crucial North London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal, after watching his side edge past Leeds United on Sunday afternoon. Arsenal secured a 2-1 win over the Whites.

Following this weekend’s results, in which Arsenal beat Leeds and Spurs held on to a point against Liverpool, all eyes are now on Thursday at the Tottenham stadium. Arsenal sit four points clear, with three games to go.

It means that the Gunners will need to avoid defeat, but for Tottenham and Antonio Conte – it is a must-win match. Spurs have the superior goal difference; only by six goals. Arteta might have hoped for more on Sunday.

Speaking about Thursday’s clash, Arteta highlighted that it will be tough for his side to go to Tottenham – but stated that his side will go to Spurs with the intention of picking up all three points. A win, would seal fourth place.

“You have to score the third and fourth, when you are there you have to be that ruthless team,” Arteta said. “We cannot give anything to the opponent. We will play against Spurs with the same attitude.

“We know how big that game is going to be, how decisive that game is going to be. As we always plan, we go there to win,” Arteta continued on Sky Sports, as quoted by Football Daily.

Arteta on Tottenham: Can Arsenal win NLD on Thursday night?

Arsenal can end any chance of Tottenham getting fourth with a win. But even a draw would probably stop Spurs from leapfrogging them into fourth place. Spurs are more than capable of winning against their rivals.

It is a massive game. If Arsenal are to get a result, they have to find a way of stopping Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. Do that, and Arsenal will win the match. But that is easier said then done, with both Spurs stars on fire.
