The Daily Mail have reported that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool wanted to sign Julian Brandt before they brought Mohamed Salah to Anfield.
Liverpool signed former Chelsea attacker Salah from AS Roma in the summer of 2017.
The Reds paid £34 million for the Egypt international forward.
Salah has become a goal machine since his move to Liverpool and could end up as the top scorer in the Premier League this season.
The Daily Mail have reported that Liverpool actually looked at signing Germany international attacker Brandt from Bayer Leverkusen.

Now at Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund and earning £115,000 per week (SalarySport), Brandt did not want to play on the right side of Liverpool’s attack, according to the report.
Liverpool manager Klopp was (is?) reportedly a big fan of the the 26-year-old.
Liverpool a missed opportunity for Julian Brandt
In our opinion, Brandt missed a great opportunity by turning down Liverpool.
The Germany international is 26 now, so there is still every chance that he would get a move to a club as massive as Liverpool in the coming years.
However, we think that Brandt would have won a lot more than he has if he had joined Liverpool when the Reds came calling.
The only major club trophy the German star has won is the DFB-Pokal with Dortmund in 2020-21.
Salah has won the Premier League, the Champions League, the Carabao Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup with Liverpool… so far.
