Pundit Clinton Morrison has urged Arsenal to give Eddie Nketiah a new contract having secured the future of boss Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal confirmed on Friday that Arteta has signed a new contract with the club until 2025.

Arteta celebrated by securing a 2-1 victory over Leeds United on Sunday, enhancing Arsenal’s Champions League hopes.

Thursday’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur will be absolutely vital and Arteta will be relying on Nketiah for goals.

Nketiah scored both of Arsenal’s goals against Leeds on Sunday, with both finishes coming from close range.

That continued Nketiah’s fine form after he also scored twice against Chelsea last month.

The 22-year-old has given Arsenal a real lift going forward given that Alexandre Lacazette had been struggling for goals.

Nketiah is proving to be the better option for Arsenal right now but there’s a big problem for the Gunners.

Both Lacazette and Nketiah are out of contract at the end of the season and look set to walk away from Arsenal.

The Daily Mail did though report last week that Arteta and Arsenal are seeking talks with Nketiah in a last-ditch attempt to convince him to stay.

It’s unclear whether Nketiah will change his mind but he is certainly doing himself no harm right now.

Either Arsenal give Nketiah an offer he can’t refuse or this form leads to a starring role with another club.

With just three games left this season, Nketiah’s future will be decided once and for all very soon.

Pundit Clinton Morrison has now spoken to Sky Sports about Nketiah, urging Arsenal to get an offer on the table that the striker will take.

“He’s outstanding,” said Morrison. “For me personally, they gave Arteta a new contract, why not young Nketiah? He’s only going to improve and there’s going to be a lot of clubs looking at him,” he added.

Arsenal seemingly are trying to keep Nketiah, so it’s not like they’re twiddling their thumbs.

The ball is seemingly in Nketiah’s court, and it currently looks like he will be leaving this summer.
