Jamie O’Hara has predicted that Liverpool are going to ‘destroy’ Real Madrid in the Champions League final later this month.
Liverpool will be taking on Carlo Ancelotti’s troops in Paris on May 28, after beating Villarreal 5-2 on aggregate in midweek to book their spot in the showpiece.
Real, on the other hand, needed extra time to beat Manchester City, having scored two goals in additional time to stun the Premier League outfit.
Even Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said that the Spanish side are ‘massive favourites’ [ESPN] due to the fact that Ancelotti is able to rest some of his major players, a luxury that the German – whose side are going for a quadruple this season – cannot afford.
However, O’Hara, speaking to Stadium Astro, is confident that Liverpool may steamroll the Santiago Bernabeu club at Stade de France.
He said: “In a final, a one-off game against Liverpool, I don’t think Real Madrid can live with this team. If they’re on it, with the way they play, I think they’ll destroy Real Madrid.”
Despite Klopp’s early psychological games, there’s no denying that Liverpool will absolutely be favourites.
Having said that, ruling out los Blancos would be a horrendous mistake.
That’s because Ancelotti, their manager, has won this competition on three separate occasions and was also a losing finalist against the Reds back in 2005, during that famous night in Istanbul.
A lot has been written about Liverpool getting revenge for the 2018 final, a 3-1 defeat in Kiev, but the Italian has his own score to settle with the Anfield club after that occasion in Turkey and with his pedigree in this tournament, well you wouldn’t back against the former Everton boss.
