Steve Nicol is reacting to Jurgen Klopp’s comments about Liverpool’s upcoming Champions League final.

Liverpool have a date with Real Madrid in Paris on May 28 following an entertaining week of semi-final encounters.

The Spanish giants shocked Manchester City with two late goals at the Bernabeu in midweek to set up a clash with Klopp’s troops, who survived a scare to beat Villarreal one night earlier.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops have already won La Liga this season and with the Reds competing across two other competitions, the Premier League and FA Cup, Real have the advantage of being able to rest key players in preparation for facing the Anfield outfit.

That, in Klopp’s opinion, makes Liverpool massive’ underdogs to win the competition for a seventh time [ESPN].

However, here’s how Nicol reacted to the comments, claiming that the German manager is merely ‘playing games’.

He said to ESPN: “The fact Real Madrid have got to the final is just beyond belief. From a football point of view, everyone will have Liverpool as favourites. He’s playing games. He’s not serious.”

Favourites?

Well it isn’t all mind games.

Klopp definitely has a point because it’s already been reported that Ancelotti will rest some big-name players in the build-up to facing Liverpool.

That being said, anyone who knows football – as Nicol also said – will know that the Reds will take one hell of a beating.

The reason why Klopp’s side are going for a quadruple this season is because Liverpool are a quite sensational football team and there’s just no doubt that the Merseysiders are going to be considered favourites.
