Well-known and well-respected journalist Dean Jones has reported in GiveMeSport that Jonjo Shelvey and Joelinton have no long-term future at Newcastle United.
Jones has claimed that Newcastle midfielders Shelvey and Joelinton are not going to be a big part of the future of the Magpies.
Former Liverpool midfielder Shelvey cost Newcastle £12 million when they signed him from Swansea City in January 2016 (BBC Sport).
Brazilian player Joelinton cost the Magpies £40 million in the summer of 2019 (BBC Sport) and was signed as forward, but he has been playing as a midfielder under head coach Eddie Howe and has been doing quite well.
Jonjo Shelvey and Joelinton future at Newcastle under threat
Jones wrote in GiveMeSport: “I’m told that Hojbjerg isn’t going to Newcastle, they aren’t interested in him.
“But, in terms of central midfielders, however good Shelvey and Joelinton have been for Newcastle, they’re not going to be a big part of that future because they’re going to keep pushing and pushing, striving to get better, and those players will fall to the wayside where they will eventually be replaced by better players, and for a fan, that’s pretty exciting.”

In our opinion, Shelvey and Joelinton will eventually lose their place in the Newcastle team.
However, we do not think that it is going to happen straightaway.
Newcastle are unlikely to undergo a complete overhaul of their squad in the summer transfer window.
The likelihood is that the Magpies will gradually sign top players to achieve their grand ambitious.
Shelvey has scored two goals and provided one assist in 24 Premier League appearances for Newcastle this season.
Joelinton has scored four goals and given one assist in 32 Premier League matches for the Magpies this campaign.
