Israel team-mate Manor Solomon hopes to see Liel Abada leave Celtic for a ‘bigger stage’ after a terrific debut season at the Scottish Premiership champions-in-waiting, speaking to Sport5

Last summer, a player who became one of Ange Postecoglou’s first Parkhead signings turned down offers from Olympiakos and the MLS before completing a £3.5 million move to Glasgow’s East End.

It’s safe to say he probably made the right call.

Because, even with a Scottish Cup winners’ medal and the PFA Young Player of the Year award taking pride and place in his personal trophy cabinet already, Abada could yet get his hands on an even bigger prize.

After last week’s 1-1 Old Firm derby draw with Rangers, a revitalised, rebuilt Celtic are just one game away from snatching the Premiership title back from their Glasgow neighbours.

And, alongside fellow new boys Joe Hart, Kyogo Furuhashi and Josip Juranovic, Abada has played a major role in Celtic’s dramatic transformation under former Australia boss Postecoglou.

The jet-heeled winger has 15 goals and 11 assists already. Not bad for a man who only turned 20 in October.

Celtic’s Liel Abada will attract interest

“(Abada’s been an) amazing success,” says Shakhtar Donetsk’ Solomon, who is set to join his compatriot on UK soil with a £7 million move to Fulham edging ever closer.

“I was very happy for him when he went to Celtic. I thought it was the right place for him and we can see that this season. For a 20-year-old player in his debut season to make such a campaign… it is amazing.

“This is just the beginning. I hope to see him on bigger stages than Celtic.”

The Hoops have provided a stable platform for so many talented young players over the years, helping fine-tune the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer and Moussa Dembele before selling them on for substantial profits.

But, make no mistake, Celtic will be determined to retain Abada’s services for at least another season.
