Arsene Wenger has paid tribute to the ‘monstrous’ Liverpool duo of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

The Reds pair have helped Jurgen Klopp’s side reach another Champions League final, the club’s third since the German manager took charge in 2015.

Liverpool beat Villarreal 3-2 on the night yesterday – and 5-2 on aggregate – to book a spot in the final in Paris on May 28.

Salah has scored seven goals since being a losing finalist for Egypt against Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, while Mane, who scored a winning penalty in that showpiece, has netted 11 times across all competitions since returning from the tournament.

And the former Arsenal manager is astonished that the Liverpool attackers have been able to remain influential for Klopp despite what’s been a very long season.

He said on BeIN Sport after Klopp’s side beat Villarreal: “If you look at Salah and Mane, who played the African Nations Cup final, what they have done, since they came back, it’s monstrous.”

Well, Klopp famously referred to his Liverpool players as ‘mentality monsters’ and perhaps Wenger, with that in mind, used the perfect word to describe the two players.

Salah and Mane are simply unrelenting in their performances for the Reds and when you then consider the likes of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Roberto Firmino, it’s safe to say that the former Borussia Dortmund manager has potentially the best attacking plyaers in the whole of Europe and their participation in another Champions League final won’t surprise many.
