It was thought that Thomas Partey would be ruled out for the season when he went down with a thigh problem a few weeks ago.

However, judging by his social media activity on Monday, he could be back in a red shirt sooner rather than later.

Indeed, the Gunners’ official social media account tweeted a clip of Gabriel Martinelli assisting Gabriel Magalhaes on Sunday, and Partey’s reply seemingly hints that he’ll be back playing before the season is out.

The midfielder was spotted back in the gym last week, and this tweet will only add fuel to the fire in terms of speculation about an imminent return.

Not only has Partey suggested that he’ll be back soon in this tweet, he’s also sparked up the idea of a potential partnership developing between himself and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Partey returning from injury would be a huge bonus for Arsenal. With just four games of the season to go, the Gunners need their best players available, and Partey certainly fits into that category.

However, even if Partey is back fit, he may actually struggle to get back into the XI.

The Ghanaian surely won’t be match fit after a period out, and during his absence, Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka have been holding down the fort brilliantly in the middle of the park.

However, when a player of Partey’s quality is fit and available, you, quite simply, have to pick them in your team.

Partey’s return could make a real difference to Arsenal’s chances of finishing in the top four.
