Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool may have to pay as much as £52 million for AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to French football journalist Jonathan Johnson in The Liverpool Echo.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has told The Liverpool Echo. that Monaco have told interested clubs that they want at least £42 million for Tchouameni, linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
Johnson has added that the price-tag could go up to £52 million if Monaco finish in the Champions League places in the Ligue 1 table this season.
Journalist Santi Aouna reported in Empire of the Kop last week that Liverpool are interested in the 22-year-old France international midfielder.
Aouna added that Tchouameni himself is “very interested” in a move to Liverpool, describing the midfielder as a “complete player” whose “technical abilities allow him to bring a real plus offensively without neglecting defensive tasks”.

Should Liverpool pay £52 million for Monaco’s Tchouameni?
In our opinion, Liverpool should at least consider making a bid for AS Monaco midfielder Tchouameni in the summer transfer window.
Yes, £52 million for a 22-year-old is a lot of money, but that is the cost of top-quality young players these days.
Moreover, reported interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid suggests that Tchouameni is highly rated in the footballing community.
