Take a bow Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Spurs have a tricky visit of Leicester City to North London this afternoon and honestly, the Foxes dominated the early exchanges.

In fact, they very nearly opened the scoring through Patson Daka following a brilliant run from Boubakary Soumare, leaving Ben Davies for dead down the left-hand side.

However, Daka’s effort following Soumare’s cut-back ball wound up hitting the post.

But on further inspection, the Tottenham goalkeeper, a £12 million signing in 2012, actually got his finger tips to the ball, pushing it against the woodwork.

It was a stunning save and here’s what Optus Sport man Efan Ekoku said.

He said live as co-commentator on Optus Sport: “Not a bad hit. Oh finger tips from Lloris. Finger tips, did you see that? It looks like a great save. He wasn’t beaten after all.”

And what a massive save it wound up being.

That’s because some minutes later, Harry Kane opened the scoring for Tottenham, guiding a Son Heung-min corner beyond Kasper Schmeichel using his head.

That was Kane’s 19th goal in 18 senior outings against Leicester, highlighting his fondness for playing against this team.

But if not for Lloris’s early save, it’s a different game.

The France international occasionally gets a bad rep and, honestly, he deserves it sometimes.

But moments like this illustrate how massive a player he is for Tottenham and no doubt he’ll be called into action during the second period, too.

Antonio Conte’s outfit are leading 1-0, 45 minutes away from a huge victory that would take them above North London rivals Arsenal in fourth.

The Gunners can, however, move back into poll position for Champions League qualification by winning at West Ham United this evening.
