Neal Adams’ first collaboration with artist Dennis O’Neil was for Batman, for which he made the cover art. Under the direction of editor Julius Schwartz, the duo went on to revitalize the essence of Batman’s dark and brooding character.

The star also worked on other DC superheroes like Superman, Teen Titans, Green Lantern and more.

Besides his work with superheroes, Neal also drew the cover arts of horror comics like Do You Dare Enter The House of Mystery.

His first cover for Marvel was an X-Men art piece.

Neal and fellow artist Boris Vallejo were commissioned by Ballantine Books to paint the covers for Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan books in the mid-1970s.

As a result, after his superhero artwork, it’s his work on Tarzan paperback covers that gained the most love among fans.

Here are some of Neal Adams’ other iconic comic book covers.
