When the interviewer asked Jalen about his unexpected divorce last year, the star said that the split was mutual and amicable.
Clearing up the narrative around the divorce, Jalen confirmed that Molly and Stephen’s alleged romance was not what led to the split. The 49-year-old also revealed why he chose to remain mum about his divorce for a year.
Citing the example of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s situation, the analyst said: “There’s a certain thing called pillow talk, and those things in the relationship are supposed to be sacred.”
Molly and Jalen tied the knot in 2018 and divorced three years later in 2021. They do not have any kids of their own. But, Jalen does have a daughter named Mariah Rose with his ex, Mauri Goens.
Star speaks up on Molly and Stephen A Smith rumours
Jalen addressed claims that speculation about Molly and Stephen’s alleged involvement caused his divorce. He deemed them “laughable.”
“In my personal relationship, it was laughable to me, to see [Molly Qerim] and I mutually part ways, be in accord about why we’re parting ways, and still see people speculating on why.
“Not only speculating — in particular saying it was because her and Stephen A. Smith had a relationship.”
However, Jalen also admitted that the speculations “bothered” him.
“But, for me, to see the speculation and for people to assume that was why, it bothered me,” he said.
He also talked about seeing comments like “That’s why Molly left him!” or “That’s why Stephen A. kickin’ it wit’ yo ex-wife!” from sports fans every time he criticized their favourite team or player.
