Speaking to PLZ Soccer, former Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has been discussing Ange Postecoglou and the job he’s been doing at Celtic.

The Bhoys had a long and drawn-out search for a new manager in the summer, and after months of speculation, they settled on Postecoglou – an appointment that was seen as something of a gamble at the time.

However, the Australian has overseen a revolution at Celtic Park and in his first season in charge it looks as though he will wrestle the title back off of Rangers.

O’Neill used just one word to describe Postecoglou – brilliant.

What’s been said?

O’Neill had nothing but good things to say about the Celtic boss.

“He’s brilliant, absolutely brilliant,” O’Neill said.

The ex-Nottingham Forest boss then expanded on his thoughts.

“There’s no doubt at all about it. He may be a bit disappointed about what happened last week, but he’s been really terrific. I have a lot of time for a lot of managers, but where I found he was particularly good was that he came in, he wasn’t that well know, a tough start and then he had to stick to his beliefs. He felt he could get this right with a bit of time and to his credit, he did exactly that, he got it going,” O’Neill said.

Phenomenal

O’Neill is a fan of Postecoglou and it’s not hard to see why.

The Australian has injected a new lease of life into this Celtic team, and while they haven’t delivered on every front – most notably in Europe, this will go down in history as one of the Bhoys’ great seasons.

They’ve overcome a very good Rangers team, and they’ve done it playing a beautiful brand of football with some fantastically talented players in the squad.

Postecoglou has stuck to his plan and he’s delivered what he had to.
