Tottenham Hotspur may fancy signing Sporting midfielder Joao Palhinha, but Paris Saint-Germain are now looking into a potential deal too.

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte wants to bring in two new midfielders this summer according to The Telegraph.

That may mean that Harry Winks is on the move this summer, with the focus on adding another couple of options to compete with Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp.

One option could be Palhinha, who has been a key player for Sporting in recent times.

Record reported in March that Tottenham were showing a real interest in signing Palhinha at the end of the season.

A Bola have since claimed that Tottenham scouted Palhinha in action for Sporting against Porto last Thursday.

There are now more reports emerging as O Jogo report that Tottenham are indeed keen on Palhinha.

Yet there is a surprise suitor emerging too with Paris Saint-Germain interested in luring Palhinha to the French capital.

It’s suggested that Sporting want to raise funds this summer and will sell Palhinha for around €30million (£25million).

Wolverhampton Wanderers are named in the race once again but the mention of PSG is a new one.

This of course means that Tottenham will be going head-to-head with their former boss Mauricio Pochettino for Palhinha.

That is providing that Pochettino keeps his job, which remains up in the air despite the Ligue 1 title win.

Palhinha, 26, has played almost 100 times for Sporting having been out on loan elsewhere in Portugal.

A giant holding midfield player at 6ft 3in tall, Palhinha is best deployed in front of a back four.

Strong and combative, Palhinha may not dazzle anybody but he can provide protection for any defence.

PSG have a similar player in Danilo Pereira, another Portuguese international, so their interest in Palhinha is a surprise.

Still, it shows that Tottenham aren’t alone in the race for Palhinha and will need to move quickly if they want him.
