Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves amid claims he is one of Arsenal’s top targets.

90Min report that Neves has decided that he is ready to leave Wolves. Neves signed in a shock move from Porto back in 2017, so has been there for five years now.

Neves may simply feel that it’s time to try something new, and he won’t be short of major suitors.

It’s now stated that Tottenham are interested in bringing Neves to North London.

Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are also thought to be in the race for the Portuguese star.

What’s interesting is that Sky Sports claimed earlier this month that Neves is a ‘top target’ for Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners are desperate to add a new midfielder this summer and Neves – who was on their radar last summer – is wanted again.

We could now see a North London fight for Neves as both Arsenal and Tottenham line up move for his signature.

Just last week, The Telegraph reported that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte wants to bring in two new midfielders this summer.

Neves would certainly fit the bill, and Conte may see him playing alongside Rodrigo Bentancur in Tottenham’s engine room.

Tottenham would surely be facing a huge bill for Neves, and that brings the subject around to the Champions League again.

Tottenham and Arsenal are fighting for fourth place in the Premier League and subsequent Champions League qualification.

It may well be that whoever wins that battle ends up in the box seat to sign Neves this summer.

Hailed as ‘sensational’ by Gary Neville, we all know how good Neves is when it comes to his passing range and ability to score from range.

That could be the ideal complement to Bentancur, and it’s important to note that Tottenham’s director of football Fabio Paratici actually wanted Neves at Juventus according to reports in Italy.

Tottenham’s interest is no great shock, but whether they can actually beat Arsenal to a deal remains to be seen.
