According to the Manchester Evening News, Ruben Neves is now expected to leave Wolves this summer, and Arsenal are amongst the clubs interested in him.

The Portuguese midfielder has been Wolves’ star man for years at this point, but it seems as though he’s ready to make the next step in his career and join a truly elite club.

Barcelona have been linked as of late, but according to the MEN, Arsenal are also keen.

Unfortunately for the Gunners, Neves’ representatives are more interested in joining another Premier League club – Manchester United.

Neves is, of course, represented by Jorge Mendes, and with Mendes’s relationship with United being rather strong after Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford, it seems as though the super-agent could be set to do United another favour.

However, transfers aren’t always that straight-forward, and with Arsenal leading Manchester United in the race for the top four, the Gunners may well be in with a shout of landing the Wolves star if they manage to clinch that final Champions League spot.

Neves is no stranger to Champions League football. He captained Porto in the competition at the age of just 18, and after five years away from Europe’s top-table with Wolves, he may well want his next move to be to a club that will be playing in UEFA’s premier competition next term.

Neves would slot brilliantly into the Arsenal team. He’s been branded as a ‘sensational’ midfielder in the past and he could be a fantastic addition for the Gunners.

Of course, though, he won’t come cheaply. Neves has previously been touted as a £100m player, and while he probably won’t fetch that sort of fee this summer it’s hard to imagine that Wolves will let him go for anything that would be considered close to being a bargain price.
