Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte wants to bring in two new midfielders – so what next for teenage talent Pape Matar Sarr?
The end of the season is in sight and Tottenham are still right in the mix for Champions League qualification.
Arsenal are in the box seat right now but Tottenham could still push themselves into the top four in the coming weeks.
Either way, Conte needs backing this summer and reports have emerged about his plans for the transfer window.
The Telegraph reported last week that Conte wants six new signings including two central midfielders.
Conte already has four first-team central midfield players at his disposal. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur look settled whilst Conte is a big fan of Oliver Skipp.
Harry Winks may be the odd man out here if Tottenham do sign two midfielders, and even then it would be five players battling for two roles.
If Conte gets what he wants, then what on earth is on the horizon for Pape Matar Sarr?
It’s easy to forgot about Sarr but Tottenham clearly have high hopes for him.
Fabio Paratici swooped to sign Sarr for £14.6million in August 2021, loaning him back to Metz for the season.
That means Sarr has kind of been out of sight, out of mind this season. The 19-year-old has played 29 times in Ligue 1 this season, bagging one goal and two assists.

Sarr has been likened to Jude Bellingham in a hugely exciting comparison for Tottenham fans, but Conte hasn’t worked with him.
With the Italian now asking for two midfielders, it sounds like there aren’t immediate plans for Sarr to become a starter at Spurs.
That means Sarr may already be staring at another season out on loan, whether it’s with Metz or another club elsewhere.
Sarr was signed long before Conte came to Tottenham and he will have to convince the Spurs boss that he is part of the plans moving forward.
Two new midfielders coming in would hardly be ideal, but hopefully Sarr can live up to his potential and become a Tottenham star even if new arrivals come in.
