Arsenal are being linked with Udinese defender Nahuel Molina – and could send Pablo Mari in exchange after his loan deal in Serie A.

Arsenal continue to be linked with potential right backs and Molina is the latest name on the list.

Italian news outlet CalcioStyle claimed just days ago that Arsenal are keen on Molina with Cedric Soares potentially on his way this summer.

That would leave Arsenal needing another right back as cover for Takehiro Tomiyasu.

After signing Tomiyasu from Bologna last summer, Arsenal could return to the Italian market with a move for Molina.

Italian newspaper Messaggero Veneto now claim that Arsenal may look to use Mari as a makeweight for Molina.

Mari is currently on loan at Udinese but there is no permanent clause in that particular deal.

That decision could prove to be a masterstroke by Arsenal as they are now in a position to offer up Mari in a deal for Molina.

Mari has been featuring regularly for Udinese after dropping down the Arsenal pecking order this season.

It’s clear that the Serie A club want to keep Mari. Udinese director Pierpaolo Marino fears a permanent deal will be difficult though.

Well, a swap involving Mari and Molina may just make it possible.

Molina, 24, joined Udinese from Boca Juniors back in 2020 and has now become a star in Serie A, smashing six goals and four assists this season.

The Argentina international is comfortable as a wing back and can play even further forward, giving Arsenal what they’re seeking.

Tomiyasu is a strong defender but Arsenal may want to complement him with a more attack-minded option.

Molina could be that player, especially with Mari potentially facilitating a cheaper deal for his signature.

Molina has admitted that he sees himself in the mould of a Trent Alexander-Arnold or Reece James – and that may be just what Arsenal fancy.
