According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool have opened talks with Monaco over a deal to bring Real Madrid target Aurelien Tchouameni to the Premier League.

Well, this would be a sensational signing for Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool.

Foot Mercato believe the Reds are thinking about the long-term, and have identified Tchouameni to replace Jordan Henderson and James Milner.
The French news outlet add that Klopp loves the 22-year-old, who is currently among the most talented young players on the planet.
Real Madrid are also interested in the France international, who is valued at £67m by Monaco and has also been likened to Steven Gerrard.
Foot Mercato believe Liverpool have been in talks with Tchouameni’s representatives, and they currently lead the race for his signature.
However, Real Madrid are desperate to sign the French wonderkid, and are keen to pair him with Eduardo Camavinga in their midfield.
Interestingly, Foot Mercato actually claim that Carlo Ancelotti’s side would struggle to compete with Liverpool financially.

It is not mentioned, but we presume this has something to do with Real Madrid’s obsession to sign Kylian Mbappe, who they could end up paying £1m-a-week if he leaves Paris Saint-Germain (The Independent).

If Liverpool managed to get this signing over the line, it would be a truly outstanding piece of business.
Tchouameni is already among the best in his position aged just 22, so he is expected to become a true world-beater in a few years.
Liverpool are already dominant, but if they added the Monaco gem to a young core consisting of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Harvey Elliott and Luis Diaz, they will thrive long after Klopp is gone.
To put it simply, not many teams on the planet would be able to compete against a midfield of Thiago, Fabinho and Tchouameni.
