According to ESPN, Manchester United have now put Anthony Martial up for sale, after he rejected Tottenham and Newcastle in January.

What’s the story?

Well, the £36m man rejected Spurs and the Magpies in January, before eventually joining Sevilla on a short-term loan.

It was Fabrizio Romano who claimed that the former Monaco man turned down the Premier League duo.

Things haven’t gone too well for the Frenchman in Spain, and now, Manchester United are ready to cash in on the 26-year-old.

ESPN believe Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Alex Telles have also been put up for sale.

In eight La Liga appearances this term, Martial has failed to score a single goal for Sevilla, with just one assist to show for his efforts.

It comes after he only scored one goal in eight Premier League appearances before he was loaned out to Spain by Ralf Rangnick.

Tottenham and Newcastle dodged a bullet

We’re not sure what has happened to Martial, but he looks a shadow of the player who burst onto the scene at Old Trafford as a 19-year-old.

Fast forward seven years, and the Frenchman now looks disinterested, disillusioned, disheartened and defeated.

Therefore, Antonio Conte and Eddie Howe seemingly dodged a bullet in January.

Having said that, it might be worth taking a gamble on Martial if a reasonable fee can be agreed with Manchester United.

It feels like he’s been around forever, but the Massy-born forward is still just 26, so he has time to turn his career around.

Whether Tottenham or Newcastle are prepared to take that risk, however, is another story.
