Rangers are looking to raid Europa League opponents RB Leipzig with a move for utility man Eric Martel this summer.
That’s according to The Scottish Sun, who claim that Martel is emerging as a target for Rangers, who are aware of his situation.
Martel has allegedly been told that he is free to leave Leipzig this summer.
Martel has just one year left on his Leipzig contract and the Bundesliga side are ready to let him go at the end of the season.
Rangers could now look to bring Martel to Ibrox, but there is major competition.
German sides Koln, Freiburg and Union Berlin are all understood to be interested in signing Martel this summer.
Rangers will be hoping to beat Leipzig in the Europa League semi-finals – and then look into signing Martel from them.
Who is Rangers target Eric Martel?
Martel, 19, emerged with Jahn Regensburg before heading to the Leipzig ranks in 2017.
Martel has only ever made one appearance for the Leipzig first team but does does have five caps for Germany Under-19’s and Under-21’s.
Standing at 6ft 1in tall, Martel can play at centre back or in holding midfield.
Loaned out to Austria Wien for the last 18 months, Martel has mostly played as holding midfielder in Austria.

With three goals and five assists, Martel has contributed well going forward.
Martel has recently attracted major interest. Manchester United were thought to be keen in January.
Ralf Rangnick was allegedly keen, with Austria Wien boss Manfred Schmid admitting that he would trust Martel to shine in the Premier League.
One interesting note with Martel is that his agency – NGM – actually involves former Real Madrid and Juventus star Sami Khedria, a World Cup winner back in 2014.
Martel looks primed for a summer move, and Rangers could now swoop in to bring him to Ibrox.
