Newcastle United, Chelsea and Southampton are among the clubs interested in signing Amos Pieper in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror.

The report has claimed that Newcastle, Chelsea, Southampton and Borussia Dortmund all are keen on securing the services of central defender Pieper on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.

The 24-year-old central defender’s current contract at Arminia Bielefeld runs out at the end of the season.

Would Amos Pieper make Newcastle better?

In our opinion, Pieper would be a good signing for Newcastle in the summer transfer window.

That Chelsea are among the clubs keen on the 6ft 4in centre-back this summer shows how highly he is rated in the footballing community.

Pieper is only 24, which means that that he can still improve and continue to develop his game.

Moreover, the German would be a free transfer.

Now, of course, Pieper is not a big-name player, but Newcastle need solid players such as him at this stage of their grand project.

The Arminia Bielefeld no. 2 has made 26 appearances in the Bundesliga so far this season.

However, with Chelsea and Dortmund among the clubs keen on Pieper, Newcastle could struggle to convince him to switch to St. James’ Park in the summer transfer window.
