Clinton Morrison has claimed that ‘it made me laugh’ when Liverpool midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, was being doubted, as he told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (23/04/22 at 1:50 pm).
The former Crystal Palace striker lauded Liverpool’s midfield magician for ‘running the show’ against Manchester United in midweek and making the game look ‘easy’.
Liverpool ran riot on Tuesday night when they put four goals past their old rivals to, at the time, move to the top of the Premier League table.
Since then, Manchester City have reclaimed top spot and also opened up a four-point lead after they thrashed Watford 5-1 on Saturday.
Now it’s the turn of the Reds to answer back against Everton in the Merseyside derby, as Morrison waxed-lyrical about how well Thiago is playing.
“It made me laugh because when he was injured,” said Morrison. “A few people were doubting him ‘can he play?’.
“He’s a fantastic player. He always looks to go forward. Not safe to just go sideways and backwards. He is a confident player in possession.
“He has all kinds of ability. The other night, it looked like he was playing with his slippers. It was that good.
“He ran the show in midfield. I thought it was the complete performance. Even tackling, he wins his tackles. And it looks like he is fit now and is firing. He has got to the pace Liverpool want to play at and he just makes the game look easy.”

There aren’t many better technicians in the Premier League than Liverpool’s Spanish maestro.
Whether he wants to slow the game down or ping it around quickly, the 31-year-old has this great ability to play the game at his own pace.
On paper, just like against Man United, he might not get on the assists charts, but it was his creativity that was above everyone else’s on that night.
Sometimes it just goes to show that there are certain players that aren’t worth judging off stats because they are just way too good on the eye, and Thiago is that player.
