Rodrigo Bentancur has told the Evening Standard that Dejan Kulusevski is playing better at Tottenham than he ever did at Juventus. The duo joined Spurs in the January window from Juventus, Fabio Paratici re-signing them.
Bentancur, 24, has come in and formed a formidable partnership with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the middle of the park. The duo have given Spurs the basis for the attackers and wing-backs to score plenty of goals.
Indeed, the addition of the Uruguay international and Kulusevski have given Spurs a massive boost – making a late charge for fourth place. Kulusevski has three goals and six assists in 10 Premier League starts.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, permanent signing Bentancur says that Kulusevski is a “great player”. But crucially, he thinks the Swedish talent is playing better under Conte at Spurs – than he ever did at Juventus.
“It does help coming with a team-mate,” Bentancur said. “I knew he was a great player, but I think he is displaying even more qualities and abilities since he arrived at Tottenham. He’s playing even better than at Juve.
“Our front-three are fantastic players. So our job is really just to get the ball back and give it to them, because it is a 99 per cent chance they are going to score a goal,” Bentancur added, in an interview with the Evening Standard.
Bentancur on Kulusevski: His form is amazing, Tottenham star is 21
When Tottenham missed out on Luis Diaz to Liverpool and brought in Kulusevski, many were frustrated – even manager Conte. Diaz has been excellent for Liverpool but judging by the stats, Kulusevski is better.
It is easy to forget the winger is only 21. Physically, he is built big, a powerhouse with the frame of someone much older. His creativity and maturity is like someone in their peak. So, at 21, he is a wonderkid.
