CalcioMercato claim Tottenham could raid Juventus for the third time in the space of two transfer windows and sign midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The Old Lady would sanction his exit for a bargain £12.5million this summer.
Rabiot, 27, was signed by Paratici on a free from PSG back in 2019 – signing a four-year deal. It leaves the France international with just 12 months left on his current deal. He has played 40 times for Juventus this season.
A crucial member of Max Allegri’s side, it is perhaps a surprise a new deal does not seem as though it is forthcoming. Juventus are open to Rabiot’s exit in order to get his £112,000-a-week wages (CM) off the pay cheque.
Having already signed Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur in January, Tottenham could now sign Rabiot. A player that Paratici described as “very important” when discussing the Frenchman during his time at Juventus.
Tottenham eye Rabiot: Spurs star would be a solid signing
A bargain, at £12.5million. Rabiot might not start for Spurs, but his ability to turn defence into attack with the flick of a pass or a quick turn between the lines is something Antonio Conte likes. Defensively-minded, too.
Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg would likely start ahead of Rabiot should the France star move to London. But with Spurs in Europe next season, Champions League or Europa League, depth is required.
Harry Winks is good cover but with the World Cup on the horizon, the England midfielder might look at an exit to improve his chances. Rabiot, then, would be the ideal depth for a bargain price.
