Manchester United were absolutely thrashed by Liverpool this week, and as you may imagine, Liverpool supporters aren’t letting the Red Devils live this one down.
Understandably, Jamie Carragher has been tormenting his Sky Sports co-host Gary Neville on social media, and he got Neville to bite after posting a video of the Manchester United legend’s past comments about Thiago Alcantara.
Thiago was mesmeric against United on Tuesday, being described as ‘superb’ by Gary Lineker, but just last summer, Neville was questioning the signing of the Spaniard, claiming that Bayern Munich aren’t the type of team that allows quality players to leave.
Neville’s claim was, quite rightly, ridiculed by Carragher, and the pundit responded in his own hilarious way.
Neville says, with his tongue firmly pressed in his cheek, that Thiago has had one good game against a pub team, and while he’s wrong about Thiago only having one good game, calling Manchester United a pub team at the moment is quite an apt description.
Indeed, while Thiago’s performance on Tuesday was one of the all-time best Premier League showings, he was given a leg-up by United’s non-existent midfield and their disorganised defence.
Neville may only be joking when calling United a pub team, but as a United fan at the moment, if you don’t laugh, you’ll only cry.
