Speaking to Soccer AM’s YouTube channel, Allan Saint-Maximin has been discussing Eddie Howe and the work he’s been doing at Newcastle United.
The French winger was one of Steve Bruce’s biggest fans, he posted a touching tribute to the former Newcastle gaffer after he was sacked last year, and he says that he absolutely loved working with Bruce.
However, while it may take some time for Howe to cultivate that same relationship, Saint-Maximin says that he’s very close to the new manager and that he’s started to love Howe in the same way he did Bruce.
What’s been said?
Saint-Maximin spoke about Howe.
“Steve will always stay in my heart because he was a manager I really loved, but Eddie has found a way to help me and to be close to me. Relationships are like this, things take time and trust takes time, but I’ve started to love this manager, his philosophy, we spend a lot of time together and he’s very close with every single player,” Saint-Maximin said.

Best of both worlds
Newcastle clearly sacrificed Saint-Maximin’s relationship with Bruce when they decided to change managers last year, but now, it seems as though the Magpies are getting the best of both worlds.
Indeed, Howe has improved every member of the Newcastle team and his tactics are working a treat, and it seems as though he’s slowly but surely cultivated the same relationship with Saint-Maximin that Bruce had.
Swapping Bruce for Howe looks like it was the right decision on every single front.
