Yesterday, the Chronicle revealed that Ayoze Perez would be open to rejoining Newcastle, after the Saudi Arabian takeover.
The £30m man left the Magpies for Leicester as he feared they were going nowhere under Mike Ashley, but now, it seems the Spaniard’s head has been turned by his former side.
What’s the story?
Well, as Bruno Guimaraes sent St James’ Park into raptures on Sunday, right in front of Perez, it would’ve been interesting to know what he was thinking.
Of course, the 28-year-old left Newcastle for the right reasons, and you can’t blame him for becoming disillusioned.
Now, it seems he misses Tyneside.
If Perez does return to Newcastle, then Alan Shearer will be a happy man, as the BBC pundit has showered him in praise before.
Back in 2016, the Newcastle legend admitted he admired Perez for his “impressive” displays in the Premier League, and pinpointed the forward’s clever movement and tenacity.

The Shields Gazette quote Shearer as saying: “I liked the way he kept toiling away, I liked his movement. He’s made an impressive start this year, particularly when the club’s spent big money on another centre forward (Aleksandar Mitrovic).
Interestingly, Perez has also been likened to Shearer, as well as Andy Cole.
These comparisons emerged in November 2014, when Alan Pardew warned against people dubbing Perez as “the new Alan Shearer, the new Andy Cole” when speaking to Sky Sports.
Newcastle should ignore Ayoze Perez
In our view, Newcastle would be foolish to re-sign Perez.

The Leicester No.17 has scored just once in 18 appearances this season, and there’s nothing to suggest he’d be picked ahead of Callum Wilson or Chris Wood.
With the resources to sign almost any player in Europe, why would Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi opt for someone as goal-shy as Perez?
It is wishful thinking from the Spaniard if he believes there’s a chance of returning to Newcastle – in our view, that ship has sailed.
