Arsenal and West Ham United are also thought to be in the race for Brentford striker Ivan Toney alongside Newcastle United.

That’s according to 90Min, who claim that Toney is attracting major interest ahead of the summer window.

The Telegraph reported on Tuesday that Newcastle are turning their attention towards Toney.

The Magpies are giving up on signing Darwin Nunez, so are now looking to bring Toney back to St James’ Park.

Yet if Newcastle thought it would be easy to re-sign Toney – a player they sold in 2018 – they are sadly mistaken.

It’s now suggested that Arsenal and West Ham United are keen on signing Toney too.

Add in interest from Everton and Wolves and it looks like Brentford will be facing bids for Toney this summer.

However, the report notes that Toney is actually happy at Brentford and would like a new contract to reflect his importance.

The 26-year-old will allegedly cost more than £50million to prise away from Brentford – and that’s before signing a new contract.

Toney has hit 12 goals and four assists in 28 Premier League games this season, shining in the Premier League.

It’s no surprise that Toney’s displays are attracting interest but it’s hard to see Arsenal or West Ham paying £50million for him.

Arsenal are desperate for two strikers this summer with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah out of contract this summer.

Toney gave Ben White a torrid night earlier this season but players like Jonathan David and Alexander Isak seem more likely to arrive.

As for West Ham, Michail Antonio needs support up top and the club’s Europa League run has to be appealing to potential signings.

£50million would be a huge outlay for West Ham though, and they’re more likely to target the next Toney from the EFL rather than Toney himself.

Unless contract talks break down, we would imagine that Toney will be a Brentford player next season.
