Nico Schlotterbeck is ready to reject a possible transfer to Newcastle or Tottenham, as the Freiburg defender and Borussia Dortmund have now agreed on the terms for his contract.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who note the 22-year-old has given BVB his commitment for next season. But the Westfalenstadion outfit are still negotiating a price with Breisgau-Brasilianer, as club chiefs are unwilling to offer the Europa-Park Stadion natives’ valuation.

Schlotterbeck has assured Dortmund he wishes to join Marco Rose’s team after he secretly met the North Rhine-Westphalia side recently. Negotiations have continued between the yellow-and-black outfit and the German international’s agent, with a breakthrough found.

Borussia Dortmund will pay Schlotterbeck €4.5m-a-season (£72k-a/w) over a five-year deal at the Westfalenstadion. But discussions with Freiburg are ongoing as BVB are loath to pay more than a guaranteed €20m (£16.5m). Yet an eventual agreement is considered ‘likely’.
Prior reports by Sky Germany have noted Freiburg value Schlotterbeck at €25m (£21m) as his contract expires in 2023. The small gap in valuations is now the only sticking point from Borussia Dortmund signing their ideal target to partner in-bound Niklas Sule next season.
Schlotterbeck to snub Tottenham, Newcastle after agreeing Borussia Dortmund deal
Newcastle were ready to spend more than twice what Borussia Dortmund are prepared to pay Freiburg for Schlotterbeck’s transfer in January. 90min reported the Magpies bid more than £40m – which the Europa-Park Stadion natives were open to but he snubbed a move.

Yet Eddie Howe remains keen on adding the two-cap enforcer ahead of the summer sales, per 90min. But Newcastle would also face competition from Tottenham, as The Athletic have cited Freiburg ace Schlotterbeck as one of the centre-backs on Antonio Conte’s radar.
Yet the Premier League duo may need to majorly usurp BVB’s proposal to now tempt the defender – who Die Mannschaft boss Hansi Flick hails the ‘quality’ of – to join their club.
